M.S. Admissions & Financial Aid

M.S. applications must be fully completed before being reviewed by the Admissions Committee. Application requirements vary slightly depending on the program to which you are applying.  Please refer to the program section for specific details on admission requirements for the program to which you plan to apply.

Merit-based scholarship consideration is available to well-qualified M.S. students who are studying on a full-time basis only. Decisions on scholarships are made at the time of admission and communicated with an admission offer.  Scholarships for international students is available, but limited, and such candidates must consider the costs of financing a two-year academic program in the U.S. International students are strongly encouraged to investigate funding sources in their home countries as early as possible.

The Simon School considers both domestic and international applicants for merit-based scholarships, but such awards are competitive and generally cover only a portion of your tuition expenses and do not include funds for living expenses. U.S. loans are available for citizens or residents as well as for international students who have been living in the U.S. and who have established credit history. It is also possible for international students to secure a U.S. loan if they have a U.S. co-signer.

Essays & Recommendations

The Admissions Committee considers your responses to the two required essay questions and the requested information about your employment history to be extremely important in the selection process. Please provide well constructed essays that answer the questions in the 500 words allotted per essay.  Please refer to the online application for details on the essay questions.

The admissions process requires that you provide two letters of recommendation. Please select recommenders who are best able to evaluate your potential for graduate study, employment in business and management. It is advisable to have at least one professional recommendation completed by your employer or supervisor.  Recommendations are submitted electronically through the online application.

Interview

The Admissions Committee will request an interview if further interaction with the candidate is desired. Applicants selected for an interview will be notified by the Admissions Office after a preliminary review of their application materials. For candidates unable to travel to Rochester, alternative arrangements for a telephone interview or an appointment with a visiting Simon School representative during an off campus recruiting event may be available.

If you wish to request an interview or a campus visit, call or e-mail the Admissions Office.  Priority in scheduling appointments is given to applicants who have already submitted an application and received a preliminary review by the Admissions Committee.  However, the Admissions Office may select candidates for interviews based upon submission of GMAT/TOEFL scores and a current résumé, if an application has not been submitted and reviewed.
