Application Procedures

The Certificate Program is designed for busy professionals, and scheduling is flexible. There are five areas of study to choose from; Financial Analysis, Electronic Commerce Strategies, Health Science Management, The Design of Effective Organizations, and Service Management. Certificate Program participants take five or six designated M.B.A. courses, with each course offered one night a week for 10 weeks. Participants can enter the program at the beginning of any quarter, and it can be completed in as little as one year or extended over a three-year period.

Individuals who wish to pursue a degree program at the School after completing a Certificate Program have the option of matriculating in either the part-time or full-time M.B.A. or M.S. program, provided they maintain a 3.0 cumulative average and meet other admissions criteria.

Prospective student must complete the following:

  • Online application, including one essay
  • $125 non-refundable application fee
  • One professional recommendation
  • Official undergraduate transcripts, showing completion of Bachelor’s degree 

The price of $15,289 (based on 2007-2008 tuition and completion of the program in one academic year) includes:

  • Personalized academic counseling with admissions staff prior to beginning the Certificate Program.
  • All tuition and student fees for the basic program.
  • Use of the Career Resource Library and Rush Rhees Library (individual career counseling is not provided).
  • Receipt of your certificate in June for those who complete the program in the preceding academic year.

Information concerning program requirements:

  • An average grade of no less than B- is required to complete the program.
  • Participation in the advanced courses is contingent upon successful completion (B or better) of the foundational courses.
  • The program must be completed within three years.
  • Some candidates will be encouraged to complete a math refresher course, offered twice yearly (at an additional fee).

Additionally:

  • No international student visas can be issued for this program.
  • Students may elect to transfer their certificate courses to the part-time M.B.A. program. Admission to the M.B.A. program is contingent upon meeting the admissions criteria and payment of a transfer fee.
