Admittance Considerations

Prospective students should demonstrate a set of clearly defined career objectives. Applicants are invited to submit additional materials (ex: authored journal articles, masters theses, unpublished manuscripts).

Students are accepted from many different disciplines. However, those with an undergraduate degree in fields such as economics, engineering, mathematics, the physical sciences, and business may demonstrate a good preparation for doctoral work at the Simon School. Regardless of the major areas of study, a strong academic record is essential. Many applicants have completed study at a graduate level, but such work is not a prerequisite for admission into the program.

Interviews

Interviews are not a requirement for admission to our program. Interviews are granted on an individual basis. Applicants will be contacted if we request an interview. Interviews are not granted upon request to applicants.

Financial Aid

No financial aid forms are required. Most applicants receive a full tuition scholarship and are paid a stipend over 12 months. Initial fellowship amounts vary based on achievement and potential. They are adjusted yearly to reflect performance in the program. In the second year and beyond, assistantships are also offered (10 hours per week, $4200 for 2004-05).

In addition to scholarships and assistantships, all applicants receive a research budget to meet academic needs such as publications, unique data, study aids and travel, etc. Additional funding is provided throughout the students stay in the program as various milestones are met.

The University requires that all students carry a mandatory minimum of health insurance, which is paid for the by the doctoral program.

Re-Application

If you have applied to the Simon School Ph.D. Program, we request that you complete a new application. Please mark that you have previously applied to our program and we will match your previous materials such as transcripts and test scores to your current application.
