Executives in Residence

One of the best ways to stay on track with your career action plan is to obtain external perspective. We bring in a host of Executives in Residence (EIR) who have expertise to offer Simon MBAs. We have hosted EIRs from real estate, health care, high-tech, media, brand management, manufacturing, consulting, banking, and other areas. Typically, an EIR will be with us for one day to one week, available to meet one-on-one with students who have career questions. Once you sign up and obtain an appointment, everything is arranged by the CMC—all you do is show up!

Advisory Boards

At Simon we know the importance of partnering with companies and alumni to ensure our offerings are relevant to what is needed in the current—and future—marketplace. We have numerous Advisory Boards composed of junior, mid- and senior-level alumni and non-alumni alike. Often Advisory Board members also make themselves available to individual internship and job seekers. The way to connect with these individuals is through your CMC MBA Career Consultant. Once you have your materials ready and you are in the pre-interview stage, we can often arrange for an Advisory Board member to case prep or mock interview you, to critique your résumé, or to forward your credentials to a hiring manager within their organization.

Board members come from companies such as:

Broadstone Real Estate
Capital One
Cardinal Health
Cognizant Technology Solutions
Constellation Brands, Inc.
Deloitte Consulting
Excellus Blue Cross and Blue Shield

Five Star Bank
Freddie Mac
Goldman Sachs & Co
JPMorgan Chase
Juniper Networks
Liberty Mutual Insurance
Marsh & McLennan
Merrill Lynch & Co., Inc

Owens Corning
The Boston Consulting Group
The Coca-Cola Company
The Travelers Companies, Inc.

Alumni Connections

Once you arrive at Simon and have completed our Job Search Essentials program, you are given access to the University of Rochester and Simon alumni database. The best way to use this resource is to work through your MBA Career Consultant. They will:

  • Show you how to “mine” for contacts in your area of interest
  • Give you advice on which alumni to contact
  • Send letters of introduction on your behalf to select alumni
  • Arrange for small group "informationals”
